2011's Best Episodes: Modern Family's Sexy Time, Good Wife's Heartbreaking Split

Archie Panjabi From Oprah's remarkably low-key farewell towards the year's most soul-crushing break-on The Great Wife (Kalicia, no!), the entire year was full of fantastic hrs of television - virtually which we viewed. There have been teary goodbyes (Friday Evening Lights' Texas forever! Smallville's tights and plane tickets!), tense face-offs (why can't all CIA interrogations occur around the front porch of the cabin, like on Homeland?) not to mention we made room for any little Glee (because certain underdogs deserved it). Which made their email list. Stay tuned all week for the top 25. Here's the 2nd batch within our extended countdown of 2011's best episodes (Get caught up first with Episodes 25-21): 20. "Caught in the process," Modern FamilyStraight from the Three Company's guide, the Emmy-winning episode built on the misunderstanding that isn't exactly novel: Gloria accidentally e-mailed naked pictures of herself, meant for Jay, to Claire and Phil, who've also just damaged their very own kids when you are caught in the process. ("Whatever it had been, it appeared as if father was winning," Luke states of his parents' love-making.) 19. "To Become, Act 1," Sons of AnarchySeason 4's penultimate episode is really a fascinating fight of wills between your show's female energy gamers. Gemma (Katey Sagal) makes her large move, showing Jax the best way to his chair because the mind from the SAMCRO motorcycle club, while Jax's girlfriend Tara (Maggie Siff) out-Gemmas Gemma by looking into making plans for she and Jax to depart Charming - and Gemma - forever. "What's happening?Inch a stunned Gemma asks. "All you trained me," Tara replies. SAMCRO might be a boys' club, but it is that old girls that keep surprising us. 18. "Allow the Sun Shine In," Males of the Certain AgeThree 50-something males get colonoscopies, play golf and gripe about existence - an ideal recipe to have an hour of compelling TV, no? Well, no, however when Joe, Terry and Owen have a journey to Palm Springs to have their colons checked, the discomfort of enlightenment is not just, you realize, physical. It will likely be a very long time before we, ahem, meet the increasing demand left with this touching series, however it was episodes such as this which make us realize we are just grateful this cool little show ever managed to get around the air. 17. "Moving Away From," The Great WifeThis may be the episode where Kalinda cries, a celebration that by itself qualifies as earth-breaking within the existence of the stoic character. The tears come after Alicia (Julianna Margulies) informs Kalinda that they recognizes that she rested together with her husband. The face area-off between Emmy those who win Julianna Margulies and Archie Panjabi is chilling, particularly since it might be their last scene together for any lengthy while. Bonus: Sarah Silverman, inside a rare dramatic turn, guest-stars as who owns an internet site that facilitates adulterous matters. 16. "The Spoil," JustifiedIt's tough to highlight just one episode of Margo Martindale's Emmy-winning season as Magazines Bennett, but her rousing speech in "The Spoil." Martindale's easy, smooth-as-Mags' homemade moonshine delivery reminds us how wise a villain she's, and just how a fight she's prepared to set up to safeguard her individuals "method of livin' and dyin.'" Even though Mags' icy mean streak did not fully emerge before the following episode, her actions within this hour put us on serious red-colored alert.
